WHAT IS H.O.P.E.?
Hope is an ongoing, fund-raising program which
benefits St. James and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parishes individually-and the
education programs they share-Adult Education, St. James/Seton Parish Religious
Education (P.R.E.) and St. James/Seton School. At St. Elizabeth Ann Seton,
profits from the HOPE program helped us afford the new carpet in the church!
HOW DOES H.O.P.E. Work?
This program lets parishes purchase gift
certificates (called Scrip) at a discount from vendors. These certificates
are then resold to parishioners for their actual value and are used just like
cash. A certificate you buy for $25.00 gets you $25.00 in products or
services. Your parish or educational programs get the discount difference.
Albertson's Grocery Stores use a "Community Partners
Card" instead of Scrip certificates. Simply present the card to the
clerk for scanning as you check out, then it is returned to you for your next
shopping trip, then it is returned to you for your next shopping trip.
Albertson's issues a check to the H.O.P.E. program for a 2% profit on the total
purchases on a quarterly basis. Community Partners Cards are available
wherever H.O.P.E. certificates are sold.
WHEN AND WHERE CAN I BUY H.O.P.E. CERTIFICATES?
You can buy certificates on weekends
before and after the Masses at both parishes, weekdays from the school (when in
session) or at the St. James or St. Elizabeth Ann Seton offices during office
hours.
HOW ELSE CAN I BUY CERTIFICATES?
You can pre-order certificates by filling out a "Shopping
List/Order Form" and dropping it off at the H.O.P.E. table on the weekends,
OR fill out a pre-order sheet, sign the waiver on top, and send it to the school
office by Tuesday morning. Your order will be filled and sent home with
your child at the end of the day on Friday. Orders can be picked up in the
Express Line before or after next weekend's Masses. You can also call in
your order to the H.O.P.E. office, 572-7897, 24 hours a day.
When you call, clearly state
your:
1. NAME
and PHONE NUMBER
2.
CHURCH where you will pick up your order
3.
AMOUNT of certificates and the denomination you wish from each vendor.
Follow the directions on the
answering machine. Orders placed by 8:00 am on Tuesday should be ready for
pickup the following weekend in the Express Line at the church you designate.
SPECIAL ORDERS can be filled if inventory is available. Call the H.O.P.E.

WHY SHOULD I USE H.O.P.E.?
Use H.O.P.E. because it enables you to give money to
your parish and education programs whenever you shop or pay bills. Because
it does not require you to contribute more money, H.O.P.E. is a
unique form of stewardship. For every $100.00 in H.O.P.E. certificates
you purchase, you add $5.00 (or more, depending on the discount
percentage) to the financial support of your church or parish educational
programs -- AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO YOU!
If you make H.O.P.E. a regular habit and a commitment, with very
little effort you can make a big difference and Help Our Parish Excel.
